1. Pre heat oven to 180°C
  2. To make the sugo (sauce), take a pot, heat olive oil on medium heat.  Place garlic into the pot and cook for 2 mins.
  3. Pour tomatoes into pot and stir.  Bring to the boil and then turn down to vigorous simmer. Cook for a further 10minutes.
  4. Add half the amount of fresh basil leaves and stir through sauce. Add salt & pepper to taste.
  5. Take a baking dish & pour enough sauce to cover the base.
  6. Place a layer of pasta into a baking dish and pour some sugo over the pasta.
  7. Then tear some ham, mozzarella, basil and place over the pasta. Sprinkle some parmesan, ricotta & pesto over the pasta and repeat the process, layering until baking dish is full.
  8. Finish with crumbled mozzarella and parmesan, to form a crust when baking.
  9. Bake lasagna in the oven for 30minutes or until mozzarella is melted.
