In a pot of boiling, salted water cook pasta as per packet directions, reserving one cup of the cooking water.

In a pan on medium heat, add oil and garlic. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until garlic is just colouring and then remove from pan.

Next add tomatoes to pan and crush with a wooden spoon.

Add 1 cup of pasta water to the pan and cook sauce for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly on a medium to high heat.

Turn off heat and stir through basil leaves and season with salt and pepper.

Add cooked pasta to sauce. Add half of the pecorino to the sauce and stir through.

Divide into bowls and top with remaining pecorino and basil leaves.
